Areas Of The Music Industry

Record companies  Record companies are the funding behind the music industry. They sign musicians and pay for, for example, recording, which helps an artist get a successful career in music. They make their money by selling the artist his records. There are several kinds of deals you can sign within a record company:  - Artist Deal The label gives you an advance so you are able to finance recording, promotion and manufacture. But as this money is a loan it has to be paid back, whether you will make money out of this deal or not. As the artist you will get 20% of all the money you make. the 80% that belongs to the label is not the money for the loan.  - Joint Venture Deal Here, the label only pays for making the record. As the artist  you will get 50% of the money you make, but only after all the costs for making the record are covered.  - Distribution Deal The artist and his team have to take care of, and pay for recording, promotion, marketin...

Hear And Identify

Hear and Identify (0.00) In the 'Goodish' version you can hear the guitar plays the first note while in the 'Worse" version it immediately starts with the piano part. This probably happened because the note was played before it started recording. You can avoid this by simply moving the track along until it's in the recording region. (0.03) You can hear rumbling and a cough in the beginning of the track. This shows lack of professionality and makes it sound very messy. If that happens in a part of the track where there are no other sounds, you can get rid of it by using the scissor tool and cut it out of the track, but if it is together with another instrument you would have to record it again as there is no way to cut out one single sound. (0:06) You can hear a lot of reverb on the vocals which makes it sound very unclear. Thereby the vocals are too low, which doesn't help with the clarity of the sound. You can change the reverb by clicking on the a...

Piano Pedals The Soft Pedal  (Una Corda: One String) is the left pedal and therefor played with your left foot. The Una Corda Pedal diminishes the timbre of notes that are played which creates a softer sound.  Normally the keys of a piano are attached to two or three strings. This pedal shifts the keys and the hammers so that the hammer only hits one of the strings, so that it creates a softer sound. on an Upright piano, the hammer moves closer to the strings, so that it hits with less force and therefor creates a softer sound. The Sostenuto Pedal is the middle pedal and is played with your right foot. This pedal is used to sustain certain notes on a piano while others won't be by hitting the notes you want to sustain and then press the pedal. the notes will continue to be played until you release the pedal. This happens because when you press the pedal, he hammers will be lifted from the notes you play on that moment. The sustain ...
Landmark Songwriting analysis Bob Dylan “I began writing because I was singing. That’s the important thing. I started writing because things were changing all the time and a certain song needed to be written. I started writing them because I wanted to sing them. Anyway, one thing led to another and I just kept writing my own songs, but I stumbled into it really. It was nothing I had prepared myself for, but I did sing a lot of songs before I wrote any of my own. I think that’s important too." -  Bob Dylan, Not Like a Rolling Stone Interview  ( 1985) Bob Dylan was born in Minnesota in 1941.  He is a prolific singer songwriter and musician, whose career has spanned over five decades. As an artist and writer, he expresses his opinion on politics, racism, poverty and social issues.
